If you see something offensive, please let me know and also send a complaint to Fortune City. They have a lot to offer, in addition to 100 megs of free web space, so go to Fortune City Home Page if you are interested in finding out more.

January 2002

I try to keep my photos as current as possible, but I don't always get it done in a timely manner. These are meant to give you a general idea of what I look like.

Hello, nice to see you today! You can call me Zinny, if you like. I am in Southern California, near Riverside. I'm 61 years old, 5'4", 145 lbs., brownish and silver hair, and not interested in perverts, cyber-sex, or other people's husbands. Happily independent for a long time, thank you very much!

Whew! Now that we've got THAT out of the way, I want to tell you about my hobbies and interests... I am a painter of fine art oil paintings. I am also interested in many, many other things...like computers, inventing stuff, gardening, gold prospecting, fishing, shooting (NOT hunting), other art forms, music, crafts, gardening, cooking, reading, etc., etc., etc. I also love to write, have had many articles published, and currently am working on a children's book.

I spend a lot of time on SeniorNet, both on AOL and on the net and I can't recommend it enough for anyone over 50 years old.  I have found some of the best friends I have ever had in my life, tons of help, information, support, chat, gatherings, and truly the greatest bunch of people on this planet.

I am a believer, survivor, affirmer, encourager; I dance, I sing, I hug, I love without reserve.  I hear the music, I feel the music, I feel life against my flesh, even as my flesh traverses the twists and turns of aging.  I fight anything that threatens to control, overcome, or destroy me.

I haev been a major computer geekess for the past 22 years and am constantly working on maintaining and upgrading my skills in hardware and repair, web page design, HTML, JAVA, Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, Illustrator, PageMill; Corel WP8, CorelDraw, Corel PhotoPaint, Corel Dream 3D; 3dStudioMax; PaintShopPro, NetObjectsFusion, AOLPress, MSFrontPage, Microsoft Office, MSWord, MSAccess, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, MSOutlook, and about a gazillion other programs.

In September of 2001, I began attending college full time, studying art and computers.  Kind of like putting a foundation under a house on stilts.  I hope to get an art degree and my goal is to work with isolated, depressed people, probably seniors, using art, computers, and computer art as therapy and/or recreation. As of December 17, 2001, my G.P.A. is 4.0 and I have received many awards for art, academics, and for community service.  I have one one wonderful scholarship, given by Soroptomists International, and I am in the running for 21 more.  I'm bragging, yes, but I really want others to know what is possible.  I will probably be 65 by the time I finish but hey... there is still a lot of tread left on this old bod.

This is a poem I wrote after my first day online with AOL (I was online with Prodigy for several years before that, but I didn't inhale).

ODE TO ‘I’m just gettin’ on for a MINUTE”

© 1996, K. Weston

I got up this morning, but haven’t yet dressed.
My dishes aren’t done, and my house is a mess.
Have not done my work, have not fed the cat,
Just on for a second, and popped into “chat”.

I used to watch TV, I used to cook Mex,
I think I remember I used to have SEX!
I used to walk upright, now roll on my chair,
‘Tho it causes the neighbors and children to STARE!

I wanted to travel around on the Net,
Been too busy chatting to get on there yet!
I wanted to spreadsheet, word process, or paint,
But gettin’ on with 'em is what I just ain’t!

So much to learn and I wanted to, but
I’m too busy chatting and splitting a gut,
“lisnin’” to people like NH and Cin,
Oh, gawd, what a fix I have got myself in!

Then up pops a name on my neat BuddyList,
Think I’ll go out and give HIS tail a twist!
And in comes an IM from some weirdo-guy,
I cuss ‘im, insult ‘im, and tell him ‘bye ‘bye.

Is there a 12-step support group, or such?
For those of us folks who just chat on too much?
If there was a group, I would like it just fine,
Except that it prob’ly would be here on line!

Are there therapists here? I think that I saw some.
It’s got me, it’s GOT me, it’s power is AWESOME!
It’s my new computer, I’ve had it one week,
Now I look in the mirror and I see a geek.

Or maybe a geekess, but I see the signs,
Please help me, please help me, please get me off line!
Or better, please e-mail a burger and fries,
‘Cuz I’m staying ON here, at least ‘til I DIES!!

I am a firm believer in the mind-body connection and I believe that we should make every effort to develop our brains to use as much capacity as possible in order to use them effectively to help us have better lives, more success, more peace, more harmony, more healing, less stress, less anxiety, less fear, less disease, and so forth.  I have found what I believe to be the finest program I have ever seen or enjoyed.  WOW!   I get the prize for the longest run-on sentence!  Seriously, though, you will want to at least visit Centerpointe and click on the demo link to find out what this is about. The demo is free, it's simple, it's safe, and it will change your life.

After using this program for less than a week, I began to see and feel major changes!  I stopped having "monkey brain," became calmer and things stopped agitating me as they had in the past, I began to stay focused and centered and think more clearly, I started sleeping better and requiring less sleep, I had NO pain and I began breathing better!  And my spirits became much happier overall — I stopped feeling sad and depressed. I began accomplishing more and coming out of my shell.  After several months, the changes I observed were nothing short of miraculous and they continue to get better and better.
